2010 Affiliate Summit
Thursday
Jan 14, 2010
ShopWatchBuy will be at the 2010 Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas; the show will run from January 17th to January 19th. ShopWatchBuy will be just outside the registration area in the Miranda Room: Table 96.
The Affiliate Summit is one of the premier affiliate shows in the U.S.; attendees come from agencies, affiliate groups, merchants, networks and vendors. Over a third is affiliates themselves looking for new methods and skills to sell and promote their products.
What can you expect from ShopWatchBuy? We’ll be there to talk to both affiliates and business owners about how ShopWatchBuy can help their sales through video and online efforts. Do you need to let consumers “test-drive” your products through video? Are you looking for easy ways to allow your products to go “viral”? Look no further.
Mark your calendars for the event. The show starts on the 17th of January with the Affiliate Meet Market, and continues on the 18th and 19th in the main Exhibit Hall with seminars, meet-and-greets and exhibitors from over 2000 companies!
We’ll see you there!

Online Window Shopping with RSS

Like a particular seller? We’ll let you know when their Storefront has a new product.
Want to know what’s available on the entire site? We’ll give you a buzz.
Just tap into our RSS feeds.
Really Simple Syndication feeds (RSS) are commonplace in the internet world. These feeds scour the internet for a particular phrase or common reference and present a list of links to you. Those with Firefox browsers can easily hit the “Latest Headlines” button for an RSS feed to the BBC. Other browsers have similar functions.
Starting today, ShopWatchBuy has posted RSS links at the top of the page and in the storefronts of sellers. Once clicked, these boxes (
,
) will ask if you want to add ShopWatchBuy or that particular storefront to your feed.
Currently, SWB offers two feeds:
Most Recent: Click the orange RSS icon in the “products” box at the top of every SWB page. When our marketplace has a new entry, we’ll send it to you.
![]()
Storefront: Like the products from Washington Golf or La Prima Shops? Hit the blue RSS button to the right of their titles on their storefronts. When the shop you subscribe to adds a product, we’ll let you know.

No personal information is collected, and no spam will be sent, just window shopping is ahead.
We’ll be adding more of these feeds over time – let us know if you have any suggestions!
ShopWatchBuy.com is now Live!

That’s right, after a few bumps along the Road, ShopWatchBuy.com is now live!
Overall I think we’ve got a great site that can help independent sellers like local merchants, affiliate marketers, inventors and e-tailers drive more traffic.
Once you sign up, it works like this:
1. Upload your video
2. Enter the listing information
3. Select your images
The listing is available immediately, and the video will show-up in a few minutes after transcoding.
What’s cool is that YOU get to select the “Transactional Link”. If you choose “Buy Now” the shopper is directed to your PayPal address and pays you directly. If you choose “Go To Store” you insert the link of your choice (such as an affiliate link) to direct the shopper to the transaction.
Now, if the video gets embedded in another site, that transactional information travels WITH the video. So, let’s say you make a really cool video explaining an HP Laserjet. You put it on SWB with an Affiliate Link to HP. Then, someone with “MyHomeOfficeBlog.com” likes your video and puts it on their site. When visitor at the blog clicks on “Go To Store” they are directed straight to HP using YOUR affiliate link!
You’ll also find our “image selection” is pretty cool. You can select images from the video, upload your own, or point to a URL image. This type of flexibility should help you get some great pics to go along with the video.
That’s just a couple of features – we’ve got big plans and more on the way!
So, take a moment to check it out at www.ShopWatchBuy.com. And, if you’ve got a product or service you’d like to promote using online video, then sign up and “Show the world what you’ve got!”
ShopWatchBuy Update and Video

Well, we’ve been hard at work on getting ShopWatchBuy.com up and running, so I’m a little behind on my Blog posts (I always was late turning in my homework ☺)
We’re a couple weeks behind schedule, but have made great progress overall!
The site is looking good, but we just need to work out a few kinks. One of our criteria is making it cross browser (IE, Firefox and Safari) compatible. It’s amazing how many little issues this can create. And here I thought the browser wars were over!
Last week we did some shooting and editing with our friends at Creative Liquid. We made a few “internal” videos for the ShopWatchBuy site. In fact, here’s a sneak peek to the 60 Spot we did – hope you like it!
ShopWatchBuy.com 60 Second Commercial
We also did videos for Kinder Haus Toys, Icon Jewelry and Everett Hills Studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Gallery in Alexandria, Virginia. I can’t wait to get these videos up on SWB!
We also got our Terms of Service finalized, a Press Release and some articles related to Online Video ready to go. Being a start up the judicious use of outsourcing sure comes in handy!
On top of all this, I’ve been working on a little side project – a game for the iPhone App Store! Believe it or not, I had a game I invented as a kid that’s perfect for the iPhone. It should be out by the end of October, so stay tuned for more info on that!
My first post…

While I consider myself a decent (but slow) writer, I’ve never been much of a blogger. But with the eminent release of ShopWatchBuy.com, here goes nothing….
Right now I’m sitting at the Seaport Hotel waiting for Affiliate Summit East to start which is very apropos considering the idea for ShopWatchBuy hit me on the plane ride home from AS West 2008 in Vegas.
Last night I attended a meeting for the Performance Marketing Alliance (PMA). The session was very good – lots of very bright people with some excellenct ideas on how we can improve the effectiveness of the Performance Marketing industry. Perhaps it’s because I’m in DC and worked with the government, but it occrured to me at my first Affiliate Summit in Miami that an organization such as this is sorely needed. So I’m very excited that it’s being started, and that I get to voluteer.
After the PMA meeting though, I was reminded why I hate attending shows like this solo. While everyone is super friendly at AS, you can’t help but feel like a third wheel sometimes. Many of these folks have worked together for a long time, usually remote from one another. So this event is a chance for them to socalize as much as anything else. I think I should get a big hat that says, “Stray Cat, please take me in”
