3rd Party Website
A third party web site is one on which the ShopWatchBuy video widget has been placed. For example, after you pace your video ad to sell custom watches on ShopWatchBuy, someone with a fashion blog places the video on his or her site. When visitors see the video on the fashion blog and click "more info" they are sent to the ShopWatchBuy Product Detail Page. If they click "Buy Now" or "Go To Store" they are sent to PayPal checkout or the Destination URL (i.e. an Affiliate Link) respectively depending on the sellers listing option.
Affiliate Link
An Affiliate Link is a tracking link given to an Affiliate Marketer by an Affiliate Network (i.e. Commision Junction) or a rand Website (i.e. Amazon) to track the traffic the affiliate drive to the website. This way, when an Affiliate promotes a product and drives traffic the site, the company knows who to pay a commission to. In the case of ShopWatchBuy, the "Go To Store" button is typically an affiliate link. We want Affilaites to be rewarded for making great videos!
Affiliate Marketer
An Affiliate Marketer (often also refered to as a "Publisher") is a person or company that promotes the products or services of another compay (often also refered to as a "Merchant"). Here is an example: Jane signs up with an Affiliate Network and looks for a list of offers (items to promote) by various companies. She finds and offer with Apple Computer that she really likes. To promote Apple Jane may create a website, place Search engine ads, and (best of all) make a video to post on ShopWatchBuy. If the visitors Jane sends to Apple.com buy something, Jane make a percentage of a the sale. It isa great way for companies to promote thier goods and services, and a great way for individuals to get into Internet Marketing.
Affiliate Network
An Affiliate Network sits between the Affiliate and Brand Merchant to provide things like tracking links, reporting, monitoring and payment of commissions. Some of the bigger networks are Commission Junction, Share A Sale and PepperJam.
Banned
A user who is banned from ShopWatchBuy for violating the terms of use.
Buy Link
The buy link allows a shopper to purchase an item via PayPal. Alternatively, an item may have a "Go To Store" link and the Shopper will be directed to another website to complete the transaction.
Category
This is the product category for a given item listed on ShopWatchBuy.
Comments
Registered Shoppers can leave comments on the product detail page. These comments can be about the product the video or both.
Custom Flash Player
The ShopWatchBuy flash player or "widget" can be embeded in 3rd party sites and retains the transaction information for an item. For example, an Affiliate Marketer creates a video listing to promote iPods and directs shoppers to the Apple store via the Affiliate Link. Then a 3rd party site, such as a tech blog, really likes the video and embeds in his or her Blog using the ShopWatchBuy "Embed Code". If a visitor to the the Blog clicks "More Info" they will be directed to the Product Detail Page at ShopWatchBuy. If they click "Go To Store" they will be directed to the Apple Store via the Affiliate Link.
Destination URL
This is the URL a Shopper is directed to when they Click "Buy Now" or "Go To Store"
E-tailer
An online retailer such as Amazon, Buy.com, etc...
Flagged
Visitors can Flag videos for Inappropriate Content. When a video is flagged, a notice is sent to the site administrator.
Flash Player
ShopWatchBuy has a custom flash player for playback of your video. However, unlike most flash players ShopWatchBuy allows you to embed a Transactional Link that will direct shoppers to your website or PayPal account. PLUS, when you your video is shared (viral marketing) your Transactional Link travels WITH the video.
Go To Store Link
This link directs a Shopper to another web site where thay can purchase the item. An example would be an Affiliate Marketer using an affiliate link to send Shoppers to the web retailer that carries the item promoted in the video.
Independent Seller
ShopWatchBuy is NOT a retailer and does not offer items for sale. Products and services promoted in the videos are for sale by Indepennednt Sellers such as Local Merchants, Affiliate Marketers, Inventors or anyone who wants to use video to sell online.
Inappropriate Content
ShopWatchBuy does not allow the sale of illegal or illicit items, nor do we allow videos that promote sex, racism, hate, etc... Please see the terms of use for complete details.
Large Retailer
Similar to an e-tailer, a Large retailer is a regional or nationwide retailer such as Best Buy, Macys, etc...
Listing
Items placed for sale on ShopWatchBuy are also refered to as listings.
Listing Detail Page
Also refered to as the Product Detail Page, this lists all of the avaiable information about an item for sale including the video, price, seller and other details.
Listing Fee
This is the fee paid by sellers to ShopWatchBuy for placing ad item for sale in the system.
Local Merchant
A retailer or services provided with a physical location that serves a specific area. What some my call a small business or "Mom & Pop" shop. Examples might be a local clothing, jewlery or furniture store that focuses on selling desiger items.
Marketing URL (Coming Soon)
This will be a special URL that Sellers can use for marketing thier ShopWatchBuy Store.
Merchant or Brand Site
This can get a little confusing. The products and services that Affiliate Marketers promote are for "Merchants" these are brand names such Apple, Verizon, LifeLock.
Online Video
Video that is optimized for viewing over the internet.
PayPal
A method for may secure online payments. In the ShopWatchBuy system, the "Buy Now" button directs a shopper to a Sellers PayPal account for direct payment to the seller. ShopWatchBuy takes no monies and is not involved in the transaction.
Plays
The number of time a video has been played.
Profile- Seller
The Seller profile has two pieces of information: private billing information used by ShopWatchBuy to bill you for fees related to the use of the platform, and Public Storefront information.
Profile- Shopper
The Shopper profile is very basic. We collect a minimal amount of informaion about Shoppers to keep the registration porcess fast.
Seller
A Seller is anyone who has registered with ShopWatchBuy to promotes products or services on the site using video. Sellers can upload videos, add listings and create a storefront.
Shopper
A Shopper who is anyone who registers as a user with ShopWatchBuy. A Shopper can rate products, rate videos and leave comments.
Short Description
There is a "Short Description 1" and "Short Description 2" for every listing on the ShopWatchBuy.com site. Each line is limited to 35 characters and is used in the search results and video commerce widget.
Storefront
This is a Sellers space on the ShopWatchBuy.com website. On a storefront a Seller can leave information about themselves, such as the physial location of their store, areas of expertise and all their active ShopWatchBuy.com listings.
Storefront Logo
This is a logo uploaded by the Seller for display on his or her storefront.
Storefront Video
Sellers with a storefront can select one of their product videos to be the default videos for thier storefront. That is why it is a good idea for sellers to make one of their videos with a ittle more content about themselves and their store.
Transactional Video
A transactional video is one with a product/service and a price. Rather than just generic "about me" videos, the video on ShopWatchBuy are intended to be transactional in natures. Videos should provide Shoppers with value added information to assit the buying process.
Video Commerce Widget
The ShopWatchBuy video commerce widget is a custom flash player that includes the Listing Title, Price, Short Descriptions and "Buy Now" or "Go To Store" link. When the widget is embedded on a third party site, this information travels with the video.
Video Enabled E-Commerce
The buying and selling of products or services online (e-commerce) enchanced by video to demostrate those products or services.
Video Length
The length in time of videos uploaded to ShopWatchBuy.
Video Search Metrics
Ways in which users search for videos such as, "Top Rated", "Most Viewed, "Recently Added", etc...
Video Type
This is a category to discribe the content or tone of videos on ShopWatchBuy. Types include things like "Review", "Instructional", "Funny" and others.
